Industry Experence

industry experience

I coached the runner-up at the 2011 HeroClix World Championship and the winner of the 2012 HeroClix Online World Championship. I helped to identify game-breaking builds that caused fundamental rules of HeroClix such as victory conditions to be changed.

I was part of the Magic Judge Program from 2014-2017. I helped staff events ranging from 30 to 1500 participants. I answered rules questions and helped to ensure events ran smoothly from an organizational standpoint.

In 2019, I opened Now Playing, a retail storefront specializing in tabletop games. At first, I independently owned and operated Now Playing, starting with a tight budget and experiencing an ITR of 43 across the first twelve months of operation. I was in charge of branding, ordering product, event organization, and just about every other facet of the business. I later expanded staff, developed a team, and moved the store to a larger location before selling Now Playing and moving on.

In 2021, I conceptualized, designed, and developed a line of "mystery dice bags" for sale in my storefront as well as online channels. Products consisted of a dice bag, a random 7-die set of dice in carefully selected colorways, and a random metal die. I sprung on current market trends and social media advertising opportunities, which allowed me to sell several thousand copies. As demand grew, I reached out to other local game stores to offer wholesale dice bags with their store's branding in place of my own.

In late 2019, Now Playing stepped slightly outside of the tabletop gaming sphere when I created the Save Point brand. In the spring of 2020, I organized its first event. Set in a small town in PA with a population of only six thousand, we managed to draw in over 250 enrollees and had over 400 people in attendance, making it that year's largest Super Smash Brothers event in the state of PA.

Between 2019 and 2022, I helped design or playtest for every major HeroScape fan project, including C3G, C3V, and AotV. In 2023, I became a founding member of the New Generation Customs fan project for HeroScape, and got involved with every facet of development. I managed timelines and group procedures, led the art team, playtested and developed units, consulted on the map team and web site, shaped branding with the PR lead, created lore to contextualize NGC units, and appeared on podcasts to help convey NGC's project goals to interested fans.

In 2021, I served as a consultant for an as-of-yet unreleased expansion for a popular miniatures game. Unfortunately, the NDA has not yet expired, so I am not at liberty to disclose more.
